Rear tire question
I put a tire on the rear: 130/70/18. I'm told that its the stock size for a 88,89 is that right? anyone else run that size?
Re: Rear tire question
Unless I'm mistaken, I thought it was 140/60/18 for the rear as the stock size. Never heard of someone running a 130 on the back of an FZR. I bet it turns on rails now because of it.

140/60/18 to my knowledge is stock.

Thats just what the yamaha dealer said, it looks ok.
Re: Rear tire question
130/70-18 is correct for '89 per the haynes book

Re: Rear tire question
Wow...and I thought my 140 looked skinny, a 130 has gotta look like a bicycle tire on there!!!
Re: Rear tire question
as above the 89 runs a 3.5" rim so a 130/70 is the correct size, a 140 is the biggest I'd want to go on the rear of that rim.
fzr660/400: fzr400 3en1 frame, 3en2 swinger, custom single seat subframe, fzr660 motor conversion, APE adjustable cam gears, full D&D 4-2-1 exhaust, falicon clutch basket, ignitech ignition, R6 front end with tz250 wheel, ohlins shock, storz steering damper, tzr250 rear wheel.
weighs 166kg wet (25kg lighter than my stock fzr600).

I tell you what...... according to the "source" yamaha used a 4" rim in 88-89 as well. how long are rear tires suposed to last? I will order specificaly again next time and make sure I get the right size..
Re: Rear tire question
easiest way is to go look on the rim it'll say something like DOT 18 x 3.50, or 4.00
