4 disc brakes on single front wheel

Post by yamaha_george »

http://www.beringer-brakes.com/site.php

Take a look at Page 23

The idea is to reduce gyroscopic effect of large discs on the steering mass........................

I can't identify page 23? :headscratch:

So how the heck are you? I'm hoping you're doing better, if Camilla is letting you at the keyboard...

Don,
not much better but still breathing albeit painfully, I am going home and then it is back here for an operation on my spine so hopefully the pain will be gone at that point.

As to page 23 my PDF viewer has a column at the right that is a minature of each page in the complete document so it would be the 23rd sheet down that list (mine are numbered so I do not have to stretch my counting skills LoL)

All for the low low price of 1800 bucks. I should get a couple sets!

I think they screwed up a bit on their glowing praise - this quad-setup is supposedly 20% more powerful than a single 320mm disk. Oddly, they're marketing this rig to bikes with DUAL disk systems.

Anyone else see what I'm on about? :headscratch: screwy

They say a lot of odd things ::

"A much longer working life: tests have shown very little wear of the system which allows to consider a working life equal to a full racing season"

AND THEN THIS ::

"Caution: this system is not designed for long Endurance races but is very interesting for qualifying."

So, the system lasts a long time, just not long enough for an Endurance race.

My guess is that the heat build up is a major issue. The rotor doesn't have time to cool.

I don't like how the center double sided static brake pad doesn't account for material wear. You would have to be constantly checking it, even if the rotors were floating.

Don't forget who the only supplier of the double-sided static brake pad would be... Since it is very proprietary and would appeal to a small percentage of the riding community, not many outside manufacturers would be interested in making replacements.
