I would def guess water pump if there are no signs of oil in coolant.

any sign of oil film when you pop the rad cover?

Re: How hot should it run?
George, not the last time I burped it.. I'm gonna head into the garage and try burping it again in a few.. I put straight water with water wetter as my coolant and the last time I burped it however I did notice that it wasn't "pink" like when I poured it in there.. I first assumed it was the inside of the rad just discoloring the water.. I'll go back out there and check it.. I'm also going to pull the thermostat and take it for a boot.. If I can get it to stay at a certain temperature with my fan switch on, and not get up in the red zone, then I'll be content with that.. If it's a matter of the thermostat opening too late, and then the coolant can't regulate the temperature properly because it's already too hot, then maybe I'll get a thermostat that opens at a cooler temp...
I mean, from the garage I spoke too, and a wrecker I spoke with yesterday inquiring about a pump, they both told me it's the water pump.. I've got no oil leaks, doesn't appear to be any coolant in the oil either.. So I'd be pretty confident in saying that the HG is fine at this time.
As for the lean-ness, I think I'm just going to jet and synch the carbs.. Factory Pro or Dyno-Jet? which ones are the "preferred" kits?

Re: How hot should it run?
SHIT! I think now I did buy the wrong thermostat.. not 100% sure, I can't remember, but I believe the one I purchased opens at 92 degrees.... not 80-84 like the manual says.. I'll def. have to pull it out and check it again, I know it's stamped on there somewhere..
I'll let you all know, and thanks for the help with this issue..
