shinko 006 tires
Has anyone tried the Shinko 006 podium tires? Bike bandit has em for $85 for a 150/60/18. They have the BT's as well for about 30 bux more. The bike now has a continental tire on it with a 160/60/18 that is shot. The chain guard has been removed so it just barely fits, but has rub marks on the tire from the brake arm and looks like the chain has a baby's ass hair for clearance from the tire. Here is a quick pic of the bike. My garage is full at the moment with my truck that im doin a motor swap and tranny rebuild. I'll get her outside and get better pics of it.
Re: shinko 006 tires
I'm happy with my shinkos. I went on a 400 mile trip and now the rear is just a little flat in the middle, but still corners really well. Can't comment on the bridgestones though, since I don't have experience with them.
also, I'm guessing you didn't search, as this has been covered before:

Re: shinko 006 tires
I just went to my local CycleGear and was able to get a bridgestone battle-ax bt-21 for 59.99 clearance! 160/60/18. Fit's perfect with a lot of room on each side. 86 bux mounted and balanced ain't bad =]

Re: shinko 006 tires
I have had mine about a year and they have been great tires for the price. Seem to have a good balance of grip and wear/lifespan. I don't do track days or get extremely crazy in the corners, but I ride in the rocky mountains a lot and spend a ton of time leaning them over

Re: shinko 006 tires
What is your riding style:: Commuter, spirited street riding, track days?
First off, I would certainly make sure you change both front and back at the same time with the same tire so the profiles match.
They would be fine for street riding I would imagine. I've never seen or heard of anyone using them at the Track though...

It's commuter mostly, and im sure there will be some times when i'll get a bit free spirited on the back roads. No track days though so I'm looking for a good balance of durability and grip.
Re: shinko 006 tires
I got a set of Podium (150 rear) put on and took it out for the first time this weekend. I gun it a little too hard coming out of a curve and it slid on me a little bit but that was my fault. Tires are great for riding around town and also looks great IMO. I think I paid around $85 at Motorcycle Warehouse with free shipping and they are fast at shipping.

New tires will do that. Make sure you scrub them in good before getting too crazy.phudeb wrote:I got a set of Podium (150 rear) put on and took it out for the first time this weekend. I gun it a little too hard coming out of a curve and it slid on me a little bit but that was my fault.
