Frame weight

Post by pefrey »

Has anybody weighed the FZR400 frame (1WG)? I know the archives says its 24 lbs, but I weighed mine last night (no subframe) and it weighed 18.7. That's a big difference from 24 lbs.

I actually read somewhere it was about 13lbs... but 18 makes more sense. 23 might be with sobframe... but even that is light. When I took my subframe off it was like 12 lbs on its own.

I weighed the subframe too and it came out to 10.6 lbs. It has been cut down some so I can't say what a stock subframe would weight. Together they weighed 29.3 lbs.

I wrote down my full subframe weight somewhere. Was about 18lbs if I recall correctly. With passenger pegs, and key lock.

The shockmount portion of the subframe was about 2.2lbs on the scale.

The WIKI general Bike maint. section has some contributed part weights for comparison .

If your bits are NOT shown kindly add them to the knowledge pool
Thanks

Will do, I just want to get a little concensus going before I list anything. I mean 19 versus 24 lbs is a big difference. (21% variance)

maybe 24lbs was a 3en or 3tj frame?
