400/600 triple tree SORTED

Post by Fzrmike33 »

Having trouble getting my forks back onto my fzr 400, i bought a new top triple clamp off ebay, was told its a 400, and now i cant seem to get the forks to line up. Do the 400 and 600 fzr share the same top triple clamp ? on the microfish there 1wg 24135, and 3he 34135, i dont know, but my forks go thru the bottom triple clamp, but i can only get 1 thru the top, then the other hole is way off :headscratch: :headscratch:

The top clamp is different between the US 400 and 600, but the '90 400 and 600 use the same lower triple (1WG-23340-00-00) and inner fork slider (3BF-23110-50-00). It stands to reason that the differences between the upper triples is very minor, and the upper in your hand must not be from a 1WG 400.

Perhaps it's from a 3TJ?

Dont know, i have a 90 400, but the top triple i got off ebay dont fit, have to find a another one. Maybe i have 600 forks, and the triplei have is a 400 and dont fit, i have to figure out what is going on here. How are the 400/600 forks different, i need to determine what forks i have for sure ?

I have a whole front end, triple, wheel, forks with racetec springs... and even galfer wave rotors... was thinking about taking the buttons out of the rotor and getting some messed up GSXR galfer rotors and stealing the carriers to fit my front end though.

Maybe we can trade parts?

I think it's a 400. But it came with the bike so I can't say 100% either way. However the triples work from either bike since they have the same offset etc etc.

that looks distinctly like a 3tj top one! the 3en are flat for all models i think! not sure on the bottom, i'll compare it to the two 3en1 one I have when i get home!

3tj engines also have 1wg on them! wouldn't read too much into it! the jap reference to the 3tj uses 1wg prefixes on the electrical diagram! i'll double check tonight though!

T,
legally speaking the States only had the 1WG fzr 400 as a direct import anything else would be a "grey" and given its a 400 not that likely.

Explanations:-
the lower clamp is 600 ?
lower clamp is twisted from a crash ?
