Handle bar grips

Post by yamaha_george »

Oh well its spring time and time to start tarting up the bike for the season.

The original grips are a bit naff so was thinking of getting replacements ANYONE care to recommend a make / type, hopefully a bit more cushioned BUT NOT foam based.!

colours must be red/black maximum, all black preferred

T_G,
let me know how you get on please although at 5" wide and what looks like an inch each end being made up of alloy /plastic I am worried about hand width. I have some real ape groper width hands <BG>

On quite another tack I watched Top Gear last night where they visited Romania and took 3 super cars to some hiway in the mountains that was a fantastic twisty twirly piece of tarmac built by the not so fantastic dictator in the middle of no where. You should go ride it , no traffic and corners that Rossi fans would love

I will let you know how the grips are, but i think that it will take a while for them to reach to my door as they are coming from China.

I have got heated Hein Gericke grips on mine currently. But prior to that it had Motrax grips on which were nice and grippy with a bit of cushioning due to the layered design.

YG,

Most sport bike grips are 125 - 127mm long. For some strange reason the FZR grips (stock) are 135mm long. If you buy 125mm grips there will be a gap unless you move your bar mounted controls. If you look around you will find 135mm grips that will fit nicely. Some folks use a little foam spacer to cover the exposed portion of the bar. I like the stock grips and they fit well.

What do you know... I like the Renthal Kevlar Dual Compound. A little pricey...$$$ but they are pretty damn good so far.
