Reset motorcycle cam chain tensioner

Post by pferreira »

Hi everyone... it seems I have alot of questions lately!
So here goes....

How do you OR can you reset the motorcycle cam chain tensioner on the FZR100 (1994)... My bike as about 16,500 miles on it and I think it's starting to make a bit of cam chain noise.... Any good online instructions? I didn't see any on the wikii.

Also does anyone here have a PDF version of the service manual that would cover the cam chain tensioner???

Thanks again!!

It's self adjusting/spring loaded. No need to adjust.

As duane said its an auto adjusting spring that adjusts itself so if it starts to loose tension the spring applys itself automatically so to speakm
To reset it, you'd have to pull it off the motor(new gasket, prefiribly) reset it, then it do its magic and do its job. The spring will provide its magic and hold preasure to the chain.. I asked this question similar awhile ago about the benefits to a manual cam chain tensoir..

Point blank is that the tensoir's on our bikes are pretty damn good.

If I had reason to worry about the sound it made on start over, id look at the exup servo bushings or the cable is loose...normal on tick over
