Ok...one part of the float is smaller and higher then the other.I guess you measure the bigger float height...right?.Thanks
BTW I have the Haynes service manual.I checked the carbs specs as you told me to do but there is no mention about the 14mm float level there. The manual mention only 10.6-11.6mm.A special Yamaha tool is needed or a plastic tube.I guess I should consider to buy another set of carbs.

Don't do that, you'll be throwing away money and should learn how to do this...the fuel level is just a piece of tubing to fit over and when you unscrew the drain plug shows the amount of fuel to a level..

Go on the factory pro website for our bikes instead of us typing out how to do it as they have a good write up with pictures. It'll become obvious at that oint

the link is just

www.factorypro.com

then go to product sales, click yamaha, scroll down to the 89-95 fzr 1000(click) then scroll down and theres a tidbit on setting float height for mikuni 38 BDST carbs..

That should give you an idea..

sorry but the link on my phone shows factorypro.com too and my work computer doesn't allow me too copy and paste as well...

hope it helps
