FM,
Cool, I am glad the old grey stuff is not so bad as i thought. The only bike shop i used back then was Deerfield Suzuki as i had just taken delivery of two of the first GS 1000's in the States (that will show how long ago this was) One i had to ride to NY and pick up a HOG and deliver that to one of my comrade in arms and the other to ship back to my place in the West Indies.
The hassle was I went to the Keys to party and came back rather tired (I will leave it to you as to why :-} and came up to where the A1A does a major right left at Broward Blvd<?> and had to scrape the pipes on the right turn to stop hitting the kerb & shop fronts.
My Journey N on the GS was lovely ( apart from HP stopping me twice to explain the laws on lane speeds on hearing my oh so Brit accent LoL good job I was in civvies .
I had to wait in NY while Suzuki found me a new right hand muffler and ride back on that damned H-D south again
I had never ridden a H_D in anger before ie I had ridden on my mate's round the base but no distances what a real PITA that ride turned out to be. I have never ridden one since, except as a courtesy to my brother when he bought his sports glide 3-4 years ago and that was round the parking lot here.
Shortly after that I sold my place in S.R.L to my live in GF & went overseas on tour and then used my West Indies place as a base.
I really must check out my old haunts (before I become a ghost ) at some stage
