these are a total bitch to get on...how in the world do you guys get them mounted...yes i read all the swaps...its not that easy when you dont have welding / metal working tools.

can anyone fab me a top mount to hold the tank frame?

I read somewhere that the fzr1000 tank mount works pretty well. I just bent, chopped, and drilled the yzf one.

yeah i did also and it wont line , its 1/2 to short....oh well tanks forsale..i am sick of screwing with it.

I bought a piece of 1/8" x 2" steel plate (I think it was 3' long) used an angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut it down then put it into a bench vise and banged the crap out of it to bend it. Cut a little more off of the tabs to clear the tank and then just drill the mounting holes. At the seat, I'm just sliding it under the stock seat holder and used some long bolts to attach it. You also have to cut some of the bottom flange off at the seat end.

I got the rear to fit perfectly...its the front i cant get lined up withthe stock mounting. i am at the poing there ill ty-wraps to hold me over. i follow health's tank mod post and it does not work for some reason. i spent 6 hours messing with it.

I flattened down the rear area by the crotch and the YZF bracket is cut on each side, bent and lines right up. No welding required! I wished you lived closer so I could just come over to help ya.

i did that health did...it didnt turn out right at all...rear worked out fine...front is just not lining up at all. i got some .062 aluminum plate so i will try and get the top mounted this weekened again. i dont have a dremel either, if i can get it half ass mounted my buddy can them come up with a nice design for me.

The mounting tabs on the front of the tank are just a bit too long/too far forward and will hit the frame before the edges of the tank sit flush down the frame. I did not like the method of cutting up the old stay as much and it doesnt look great either. You need to order the front tank bracket for the FZR1000. It bolts directly to the frame and fits inside the YZF mount perfectly. Then you'll need to cut about 1/2" off the front of the mount where its hitting the frame. Youll need to cut it at an angle to match or clear the frame. Just cutting it straight wont help much. Then all you need to do is drill a new hole for the bolt on either side. There is plenty of material as youll be drilling into the solid part of the bracket right behind the original mounting hole. Then run a long bolt through with a nut and youre set on the front. I can get pics for you later today of my setup on my bike, and the front mount for the YZF tank on the bike I have in the basement from Fizzinatorr. My camera is charging now. No welding necessary for the swap, just some mild cutting and drilling.

You got fed up of that damn bracket huh? Yea, I was about to throw it in the trash before I finally got it done the way it needed to be. Good job on yours.
