My FZR600R Foxeye Restoration

I wish i knew the Foxeye existed before i bought mine. A fine motorcycle you have restored there. Don't take this the wrong way, I hate the front mudguard I know it's stock. But it's ugly. Im sure with your skills you could improve the style.

However, my bike is nearly ready, I haven't had a ride in a while (marital probs also). Where did you find the "hotrod meet"? those babes look very ridable.

totally get what you mean about the front but its an old design, i might make a carbon fiber front mud guard but i dont know about altering the design. as for the meet it was at stoney cove leicestershire my mate has hot rods so is in that scene n yer some real eye candy the hot rod from the audi R8 spider advert was there as well looks all beaten up and has unloved on it great motor the photos of that were too dark and didnt have any half naked girls on it anyway.

All back on an even keel again so next project on the bike is the swing arm because mine is rusty i have to strip the whole back end. Now my question is , do i remove the existing one and renovate or replace it with an r6 one i have had a good look round and the costs involved are not too dissimilar so what advantage would be gained with an R6 backend?

R6 swingarm with stretch your wheelbase by at least two inches. If you just ride in a straight line it would be fine, but it will have a noticable impact on you turning. Other than looking cooler I don't think you would gain much.

Very VERY nice foxeye there. Nice fabrication skills I must say... I need to find me one of them meets!! Make ughhh a few friends hehe.

I'd go with an R6 swing arm, 2 inches? mehh whatever, it'll look sexy, if you want to regain some performance, just get some adjustable dogbones(ReelRazor) and raise her an inch and you should have all your preformance back with some very nice styling

cool thanks will def start looking at an R6 tail much prefir the chin adjusters on the R6 anyway plus i think i will be able to fit a lager wheel at a later date too so i am swayed by the new back end, and the dogbones i was thinking of fabricating some adjustable ones so i can have more control of the suspension anyway, so its all good.

as for the turning performance dont think a 2" stretch will affect things that badly.

as for the seat covering it is very easy just have to find the right material and stretch it till the creases come out and then staple the material to the base

time to start shopping i think!!
on a side note just got back from pheonix az man you guys in the states got it good fantastic roads nice weather (this time of year) and you dont have to wear a helmet

not posted for a while but started on the backend restoration which is this years project in the meantime i have had some new levers
and now for the main part;

all the panels off the back

loads of dirty electrics to clean up

found something odd with the shocker i am guessing from the non standard spacer its not original can anyone confirm this

good luck with the rebuild Doug by the looks of things your gona have a nice bike when your finished and the seat cowl is very very smart as for the domestic situation, i totally understand i was there myself 3yrs ago and lost everything....BUT....life goes on and things will get betr, there will be light at the end of the tunnel...Good luck

dose anyone know what shocker i have is it standard or not? it all looked a bit bodged to me like someone hadnt got a clue what they were doing even the swing arm was binding up cos the main bolt was too tight, the only thing with the shock is if it is the wrong one the ride height will need checking and probably fixing

It isn't a standard shock as they don't have a remote reservoir. Mine has got a similar looking shock on it from a Thundercat (by the look of it).

thanks for the info didnt think it was standard looked very odd and the remote res was tyrapped to the frame thanks, at least if it is from a thundercat then the height will be correct as its prettymuch the same bike cheers doug
