That thing is so sweet! I kinda want one.
Re: Zoot Scoot Riot Project - Codename: Scopper (Updated 6/23)
Gah, the poor guy got shoved under the ford at the the shop awhile ago and hasn't been out since. I keep looking at him trying to get the motivation to finish it, but it just hasn't happened lately. I need to pretty up the frame a bit and then figure out how to mount the oil res and exhaust and brake light, etc. I finally have a bender that will do 1" so I can actually bend the exhaust now and see if the current idea will work. I'll try and update with some pictures before xmas.

Do YOU Scopper?

Re: Zoot Scoot Riot Project - Codename: Scopper (Updated 6/2
Geo, The only thing I coated my camera in is dust from the amount of sanding I've been doing. UGH!
Anyhow, On to the new progress!!
For those that are just tuning in, or those that don't remember because it's been such a long ass time since I've updated this thread, the idea here is to build a scooter in the image of chopper. Hence the code name Scopper. In addition to this, the build budget was $400. This budget was two-fold. It kept me from spending way too much on this silly little adventure, and it forced me to get creative. Most of the parts on this build were made or scavenged from the shop. The only new items were the seat (Most expensive item), and a new battery. Now things that I can't make are obviously bought new such as the brake pads, tires, etc. I even had a few members donate parts or cash to buy parts so I could stay within budget. Ok, enough history.
ON WITH THE SHOW!!
Cleaning up the frame lines with some bondo.

It started its life as a giant bolt.

It ended its life as the fill port for the oil reserve. Andy took care of the milling procedures.

The oil fill port welded in place.

The full oil reserve setup.

The pretty well complete frame hand built here at GMC!

Side shot of the exhaust.

Rear shot.

The bending of the 1" exhaust pipe.

The awesome pipe fittings I used in order to make the tight bends for the exhaust.

Nate,
If you can finish this beast you are more than capable to see about "the next investment" a dust extractor / vacuum cleaner at that rate . Knowing you a quick set of dumpster diving and some TK ingenuity and look no more dust all over the shop / camera

nate, ask everyone you know if they know any HVAC guys.
when you find one that seems decent, ask him to keep the blower motor next time he replaces someones furnace, they work great for this, its what my dad uses in his woodshop and I have mine from my old furnace I replaced last year to build when I get the time
