what i would really like to know is how much it has been grinded from one side of the swingarm and how much from the other, so that the rear sprocket aligns with the front sprocket and so do the wheels. i would really adore this mod on my bike. Also some other questions. will the sprocket hub from the 600 3HE fit to the 1000 wheel? what size is the rear wheel axle and what size is the swingarm axle on the 1000?

http://www.translatorscafe.com/cafe/uni ... er/length/

and they give the answer as 241.3mm which some one previously posted and seemed so odd that I thought his other measurement of 250 was more likely, goes to show how wrong I can be ................

well here we are we have established the 1k swinger i aquired has been modified but overall jt shows it can be done the r6 swinger swap i did not like as you have to butcher the frame and this was a no go for me as no room for error so the 1k is probibley the way to go as it involves minor mechanical skill and some friend with a welder any help needed i am happy to reply

Well YG I'm not the brightest fork in the closet lol just thought I'd give that measurement because my 750 swing will be getting the big hammer taken to it soon. I should have both side by side by next weekend.

Tony,
You under estimate the work entailed for sure.

If either end of the pivot tube is shortened by even 1 mm then the bearing pockets inside the tube will need deepening.
Now some guys on the Forum have done bearing pocket deepening with a dremmel & power drill with grinder/sander wheels.
BUT if it gonna work properly you will need some one to mill the pockets deeper, not something for the average shed dweller has to hand.
Fore thought good dimensioning and planning are required.

yes george i can understand what your saying but on my 600 swinger after taking bearing out the bearing pocket goes in 50mm so if the 1k is the same by cutting down you only have to change the bearing od should be the same id the same as spindle the last time i deepened a bearing pocket i inserted a broom handle into pocket put centre hole in and used hole cutter to increase od by 1mm

Tony,
interesting technique must have very steady hands or a very good drill press, my problem is that as an engineer I am very aware of bearing tolerances and drills are not accurate enough for boring holes and certainly not to the depth of 10mm. If you have gotten away with it more power to you. The next guy might not be so lucky/skilled hence my warning, this is nothing personal it is just me be careful as I would be with my own property/life.
