i wonder how would it feel if there would be 110/70/17 on front and the 180/55/17 in the rear???? would it corner better?

thats what is on it and yes it does corner better
Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
I'd stick to a 120/180 set up but if I were to use a 110 in the front, I'd go for a 110/170 set up or 160. 190 is WAY to big for the bike but thats just my 2c

I have been looking but can not seem to find the answer. What year range should we look for and what all is needed?

87-88..commonly known as the "Genesis 1k"
89-95..commonly known as the "Exup 1k"
In this case you're looking for an EXUP swinger and related parts

Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
that is correct sweekster the first post on this topic i stated 1000 exup ,i have now got the bike nearly looking how i pictured it to be i am glad i kept the original seat also when i modified the r6 tail as the guys i know with the r1 say its like sitting on the bike and when they sit on mine its been in the bike
Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
Ive gota agree with Ant on the tyre size, a 190 on the back would be way to wide the handling woud be poor as well a 180/55 is a far better choice and from a stability point ov view ...WAY safer at speed as for the front def 120/60 bigger foot print on the road = more grip less chance ov front end tucking on full lean also less flex in the tyre wall... just think'in ov your safety bro

Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
Guys to be fair none of us can actually say what will or will not handle on this particular bike.
If it was stock then yes we can have an opinion as most of us have ridden the stock shod bike.
However in this case it has a rear rim on it that has not been tried before on this forum. So 190 with 110 stock front might well be fine especially since the rear has such a curved a profile.
120 tyres on the stock front rim (coupled in my experience with 140 & 150 rear tyres on the stock rim ) I personally have found to be very poor and unpredictable with my riding style but that is my personal opinion and only that.
This new combination will have to be ridden by the new owner & measured against his experience and then if he can get (beg, borrow God forbid buy new front tyres/wheels ) he can make a comparison that is valid for the new set up.
Just as a matter of interest what was the EXUP 1K tyre set up rear 190 on what rim ? Front rim & tyre ? then we would have a better idea of what Yamaha had in mind for handling with a 190 rear albeit we are dealing with a 600 which is how much lighter?
After thoughts:-
does the 1K have a different rake to the 600?
Is the fork trail the same ?
Wheelbase difference to stock 600 ?
Wheelbase difference to this 600 ?

At least one of your afterthoughts has been answered, the wheelbase remains the same. That was my concern, what good is a nice swap like this if it destroys the handling.

That is only one part of the puzzle that is called handling, the other parts would be trail, rake and tyre contact area.from that we could formulate a rough opinion as to what the handling is likely to be like.
we might even try to load the stuff into software like Tony Foale's bike handling program?
Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
Very true, thanks to the competitive nature of the tire market we can throw tire weight in there too. I think the pilot pures are supposed to be around 2 lbs lighter than many other offerings. That'll translate into less rotaing mass for easier turn in along with small differences in accelerationyamaha_george wrote:Will,_Will_ wrote:At least one of your afterthoughts has been answered, the wheelbase remains the same.
