As blenson said, Im amazed how this hasnt been really thrown out there so much. I mean, to me the parts are more readily availible then then the thundercats.
As for rear tires, All exups used the same rear set up and the difference were in the front end with the forks and different bearings. I think a 190 is un-nessacary. I would stick to a 180/55. Sure some 190's fit but I think thats overboard. Hell you can rock a 170/55 on the exup rear wheel as thats what they came with but I think you'd be WAY better off with a 180. Like said before you can get Michelin PP 2cts from jakewilson for 200/pair. Thats good in my book..
But with this being now out there. It also opens up the usage of the thunderace and YZF 750 swingers. grant it you'll have to cut them down a litle bit but now thats also an option.

I was hoping the 3TJ swingarm was slightly wider than the FZR400 1WG. My stock 1WG arm is like 3 mm shy of accepting my 2003 GSXR600 rear wheel. If it's not too inconvenient do you think you could measure the inner width of the swingarm?yamaha_george wrote:Freestyle72 wrote:Is the 3TJ swingarm as short as the stock FZR400 swinger? And is it wide enough to take a 5.5" rim?.
FS,
5.5 rim I doubt, I used the 3TJ (which is a FZR400 swing arm ) simply because I got given a FZR400 17" rim which has more rubber available (not that I have used the 17" rim as 3 days before it was due to arrive the 18" got a screw in it and since I was miles from home I had to get the tyre now for now and get back home ). The rim is sitting patiently for me to get her powder coated in white after diligently polishing the lips :-}
I didn't mean is the wheel centered in the swingarm, because lots of swingarms are not symmetrical so the wheel being in the center means very little. Rather I am more interested in whether the center of the wheel is in line with the center of the front wheel. I believe in the case of the FZR the shock mount will also be dead center of the bike as well.tony wrote:yes freestyle there is a spacer on the sprocket side its approx 10mm but i can ensure you the wheel is centered if you go up two post i did say it had spacer on sprocket side as you see i also had to space the exhaust out to get past the swinger

FS,
I will hopefully have a chance in the morning I am out of hospital for half a day so may just got to turn the old girl over see the battery is ok etc. If you look at the web page :-
http://www.saltmine.org.uk/kgb/catalogue.html
you should see how much difference there is in s/arms and why I was interested.
You should however read the swingarm swap pages for the GOTCHA's that came out of each type of swap !!!!

well guys took her fo a blast today all is well handled exellent on the twisties [bends] a little lighter on the front enabling to turn in a little quicker but feels more grounded all in all a job well done happy i made the decision to have a go with this conversion it has certainly had a lot of interest on this site
Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
what's the difference in swing arm length between the two? I'm excited about this more for the tire options than the size but am curious what the wheelbase is afterwards
Re: 1000 EXUP SWINGARM TO FZR 600 updated bolt sraight on
hi will there is no difference at all as i measured it prior to assembley just go for it but make sure you get the complete back end any questions regarding instalation i will be happy to answer the last thing i had to do was make a bracket and drill and tap the top of the swinger to put the chain guard
