R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
So on a local forum I found someone parting out a complete 2002 R6. I talked to him and I can get the entire front end, swingarm (and associated hardware), rearsets, and the header for $400. I would still need to buy a rear wheel, bars (clipons are fine though), and I'm sure other miscellaneous bits and pieces along the way. My question is, should I go for it? Thanks guys.

Re: R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
That's what I'm thinking too. Looks like I'm going to have some parts up for sale to fund the winter build. Thanks for the input.

Re: R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
What do you mean "entire front end"? If you mean:
left and right handle bars and clip ons
brake master cylinder lines and calipers
forks unbent / undamaged left and right
triple tree, top and bottom with stem
wheel with rotors
axle with spacers
front fender
then I say go for it. IMO don't bother with the other stuff, too much effort for too little gain and drop him down to $300 on the front end.

Re: R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
I meant the entire front end minus one handle bar and the front fender. Everything else is there. I think i'm just going to get it all. Worst case scenario I can throw the swingarm and my soon-to-be extra R1 master cylinder on ebay or an R6 forum and make a little bit of cash back.pefrey wrote:What do you mean "entire front end"? Re: R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
I'm with 'pefrey', the front end is where it's at. The R6 swing arm swap can be a money pit.
Thanks for joining and participating in the most "active" FZR Community on the internet!
Re: R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
And if you need the stems swapped you can send them my way!

Nate, So the 2002 R6 front end is not a direct bolt on?thatkid wrote:And if you need the stems swapped you can send them my way!
That's what I've read anyways, also are the forks shorter?

Re: R6 parts... Should I pull the trigger?
I have access to a full machine shop through my school's formula car team so pressing the stem shouldn't be an issue. I might have some stuff for you to powedercoat over the winter though. I will get back to you on that one.thatkid wrote:And if you need the stems swapped you can send them my way!

Nope, no R6 swap is a direct bolt on. And as far as I know, all of them are shorter than stock.
Well then, can I send YOU stuff??blensen wrote:I have access to a full machine shop through my school's formula car team so pressing the stem shouldn't be an issue. Just let me know on the powder. My bigger oven is almost done!
