well i just got a 98' fzr600 and the guy who sold it to me he said that when you ride in low rpms it stumbles and i noticed that to, when im going through a 25mph zone and im just cruising at that speed in second or third gear it stumbles and the guy said that it needs carb adjustments or carb sync...........i went to ask a dealer how much is to get it done and they told me like $80 ....and some other guy who rides told me it's easy to do so i figured to ask here and maybe ill try doing it myself .....what do you think it could be, which one of them?

Could need several things. You can buy a manometer and do the carb sync. Depending on the mileage, it may need emulsion tubes.

We'll look into doing a How-To on several things.

Has any other work been done?

Not too sure of others here, but when I'm doing 25, I'm still in first gear. These bikes generally don't run smoothly under 2700-3000 RPM.

it does it on first gear too i dont know its my fist time riding on a carbureted bike i have ridden before newer bikes that are fuel injected i mean could it do that bc its carbureted and it doesn't run well in low rpms bc it only does it in low rpms? ....as soon i brought it home i changed the oil and filter , spark plugs, cleaned the air filter..

How can you tell if you need carb sync or not?

You really can't tell without some type of manometer, either DIY or commercial.

I'm sure what you're experiencing is due to the change in from riding Fuel Injected. My friend just bought a FZ6 and I couldn't believe how smooth it ran at such low RPMs. I have to feather mine at low speeds...

Once every 5,000 to 10,000 miles... or when you modify the carbs.

my 93 was my first bike....well i actually learned on a zx6 but barely got to ride it ....
but when i got my fzr back in may 08...i really had a hard time adjusting to it doing the same thing in low hear and around 2500-3000 rpm.....i had my fiances brother (whos a mechanic) take it for a spin and he came back like nope theres nothing wrong with it....hes like if anything ill adjust your pilot screws..i thought maybe there was carb issues, specially with a slip on d&d on it when i got it, i thought maybe i needed to jet it but he said no..but other than that this thing runs amazing....

soo after i got my skills up...it doesnt even faze me anymore, i just putt on through parking lots...sometimes itll jerk but u just have to adjust...pull in the cluth...and just glide....
