Gas leak

Post by JinSoku »

Finally back from my long trip and back to the bike. I got this bike few months back if some remember from my paranoid introduction. I had to put it in storage and leave before I could even start it, so my problem is not a recent suddenly happened issue or at least I don't think it is.

Anyhow, heres what I'm having trouble with. As soon as I turn the ignition and try to start the bike, the electrical kicks in and gas gets pumped out ending up making a dangerous mess on the ground instead of going where it is suppose to go. From what I'm seeing, it is coming from a fitting between carb 3 and 4 which I've identified as where the overflow hose should be. I've also attached a picture. Thus I want to confirm if what I'm looking at is what I think it is or what it really is as I don't want to blindly destroy the bike.

If there should be a hose there as I'm reading from the manual, where is it suppose to connect? and if not, would cleaning the carbs, doing some reseating of the pin, and syncing be a good start to figuring out the problem?

Let me know if there is any other information needed, In order to get this bike started I'll give you anything you need from me, well everything except my bank account or social security.... Anything to get me started would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

The two short hoses you have circled are the vents. What it looks like to me is you maybe have a stuck float or clogged jet-or both. You mentioned the bike has been sitting for a while. You pretty much answered your own question. I'd give them a clean and synch and you should be good to go. At least one would hope that right? :whistle
