You know that is going to cost you well over $500 in parts alone - right?

And that's if you can find the parts... Might be better off finding a low mileage motor to replace it with.

New pistons are $60+ a piece, ring set is $200+, Gasket Set - $70, valves are probably $12+ a piece...

It's that way with most motors... my Mojave ATV piston was $80 + $30 for a ring set. Thank goodness there is only 1 cylinder.

Is the motor smoking?

Wouldn't it be easier to put a 600 in there. Is it going into a 400 frame?

Hmm someone else will have to chime in as to what engine you could put in there, but a 600 cc + the alum 400 frame = :yikes: :yutugh2:

You're probably going to have to look in the UK where more 400s were made.

Yeah that Monterey motor i talked already with the guy, its a real possiability, the other motor in Phonix the guy has loads of 400 parts, forks, speedo, etc, so thats a good find i need parts, thanks. I was reading another section on here, China Racer says wiesco is going to make 440 pistons for the fzr 400 ? hmmm that would be great, but that thread seems kinda old and i dont see nothing.

Some things make it difficult. The bike is 20 years old and there weren't many sold - in the US.

The part that I find hard to understand is why there aren't more after market engine parts available because they were a popular bike to race.

Thanks for that link, i sent them a email and see if they still have them, thanks again.

Well havent head anything back from that place in the UK for pistons, dont even know if there in business anymore. This really sucks you can get these parts for this bike, makes me want to get rid of it.
