Darrin, a question for you.

Post by kilika2 »

Did you ever ride your fzr on the street with the 14/49 gearing or only on the track. I went to sum of all parts to get a 520 and that is what I ordered, for the sole reason that that is the only gearing I could think of besides the -1/+1. But then I got to thinking about it and I know you rode yours alot at the track.

Thanks,
Chris.

I would have just sent him a PM..BUT i do recall Darrin having that gearing and occasionally street riding his FZR prior to the track days. In addition there are numerous people on the forum who run that gearing on their 600's with no issues.

Yes, I road it on the street that way. Sure the RPMs will be higher in 6th gear, but the bike takes off like never before. I recommend that to everyone who has an FZR600 and wants to mimic modern day 600 performance.

It was also the perfect combination at the track. I run that same combination on my GSXR...

Your gas mileage may not be the best, but the grin on your face more than makes up for that.

If you're unhappy with it, just buy a 15 tooth front sprocket and use the 14 at the Track Days that you'll be attending all next year...
