I didn't notice it until maybe a month ago (so it may or may not be a recent phenomenon) but my turn signal seems to turn itself off intermittently after I switch it on. I'll hit it while coming up to a light, come to a stop and then glance down to see that it is no longer blinking.
Anyone else have this happening/know any quick fixes?

All Original, except for a custom saddlebag set up. A machine shop buddy of mine seamlessly fitted two GS bags on the rear end for last summers ride.

If I recall the flasher is self canceling so the relay could be going wonkers and self canceling when it shouldn't

Re: turn signal turns off intermittently
If you look at the wiring diagram the White/Green wire from the Flasher Relay connects to a "speed switch", probably in the speedo.
I have no idea how it functions. but
1, The speed switch could open (when i don't know) and cause a open circuit.
2, The speed switch could close (when i don't know) and cause a closed circuit.
So either the switch could be faulty, the White/Green wire, has poor connections, or is shorting to ground, could also be a faulty Flasher Relay.
Those are complete guesses though.
Re: turn signal turns off intermittently
I guess I just never noticed it before, but it automatically cancels the turn signal after exactly .2 miles pass.
Huh.
Huh.

Then that is NOT a bad thing surely,I know most Yamaha's have self timing units on them even as far back as the '70's

Re: turn signal turns off intermittently
I know the RD250's and 400's did, they self cancelled around the same distance. I don't have a stock flasher relay, so made a warning buzzer. Forgetting to switch off the signals can be life threatening, If a car, van, truck, bus driver e.t.c thinks you are turning, then pulls out
