Clutch slipping
Hi all, right my clutch seems ok most of the time. when i go for a long ride, the day after the ride my clutch slips alot but the slipping reduces as the engine warms up. then as the days go by it seems to be ok again until i go for a good long ride! i have used the manual to adjust the screw in the front sprocket cover but it made no difference. Is this just my friction plates on the way out? many thanks, john

Re: Clutch slipping
Hi: Hope oil is Jaso MA ceert for wet clutch. Ya I'd checl the freeplay at cluth housing and lever.. there has to be some or you slightly disengaged all the time.
My FZR EXUP 92 has been doing the slip when cold good once warmed right up. I just got the bike yesterday and intend to check # 1 freeplay ) clearance at actuator.. then I'll change oil and go to Jaso MA ( mineral). filter at same time. If that doesn't work I'll get a new pack and springs.. It is an easy change
and you good to hammer down again.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Re: Clutch slipping
fzr's seem to have a very weak clutch, ive put a new set of friction discs and springs on mine, and even now it slips now and again at powerband revs in 2nd and 3rd, think i need a pack, the steel plates looked ok when i changed the clutch, but something is amiss
the oil is crucial on these bikes too, car oil makes the clutch slip too
ive never done it, honest,
.

Re: Clutch slipping
cheers fellas, yeah i use silkoline bike oil so that should be ok. there is free play at the lever. i might try not backing off the adjusting screw as much down by the front sprocket cover. when it stops raining that is
