well like usual i ran into a snag that would have been helpful if i though about in the begining it seems that the r1 front end i got in combination with the yzf600r radiator conflict. because of the radiator hoses hitting the engine support and the exhaust header along with the fan housing hitting the engine i cant get the thing out of the way the front fender hits it at about 50 percent compression. so now im bidding on a 636 radiator for the wider hose locations. it worked fine with the yzf600r forks though oh well i did figure out a better way to mount the top of the radiator though

heres where i am now i have the gauges on and a belly pan i made, which due to the size of it was harder then i thought it would be. i used a sheet of thick paper and made a pattern and cut it out with a grinder. looking for opinions with, or without the pan?ImageImageImage

Looking great.

Did the the YZF600 forks/triples e.t.c. work with the FZR front wheel, axle, and rotors? or do you need the YZF wheel e.t.c.?

Thanks

i dont know if the fzr front wheel will work with the yzf forks i bought all the peices for this bike offline so i dident have a fzr wheel to try, i just got everything from the clipons down. the front of these pics got cut off but i have r1 forks on now the full shots are in my gallery. im not too informed on the yeypor but it looks like the veypor is more set up for tuning and race application with timed runs. and the vapor is just a just an all around gauge it needs the wheel magnet and a temp sensor but it gives most features like speed, rpm, engine and outside temp, shift light and danger shift light, clock, ect. www.trailtech.net makes it. i got the computer part for 41 bucks new in a ebay auction. next is the 636 radiator should be here in about a week. eventually i have to settle and call it done and stopp changing things but atleast i can upgrade my avatar photo bike.

well i just got an 07 r6 complete tail so im gonna change it again so my old one will be for sale once it gets here in one peice after fedex ruined a front rim i dont trust shipping anymore. also got some of those shrink wrap connectors and redid my headlight and turnsignal wiring, i pulled it back into the frame and kept it in there with a few wires comming out instead of the main chunk of wires in the headlight with the pod filters i have the room to spare. im gonna remount the speedometer also and maybe relocate the key switch also painted the belly pan. autozone dosent carry the dupli color paint any more so i had to use the rustolium car paint they have now the can is smaller at 8 oz but the same price so that iritated me but it does have a better quality finish i even repainted the head light cause it was much better with a nicer gloss there also wasent as much of the dull overspray. also put in the 636 radiator the hose sizes are different so i had a hard time tieing it in there all larger and mounting it wasent that easy either but its in there and i like it better. im getting a 79 cj7 from my father that needs a ground up rebuild so i have to finnish this bike first so i can focus too many big projects at a time are alittle over whelming for me with day to day life on top and 2 kids too. when i look back i wasted so much time and money with spur of the moment buying i wish i had more of a plan before i started. i have about another half a bike in parts ill probally include them in the sale of my avatar bike i have all he upgrades in kit formjust gotta iron out the rearset issue with the yzf swingarm and chain thing and change the fork seals that are comming. do they just go in and out like regular seals or is there some trick to them i never changed them before

im not sure i have to wait till i get it to see what my options are i was thinking maybe two plates on each side that will tie into the motor mount bolt and mayby weld to the little curved subframe support area. or i might just cut that curve off totally and box it in and put some tabs on the frame. i have to make a new top shock mount for its bolted to the bottom of the existing subframe. got the whole thing with the sub, undertail, top tail. light , and battery tray for 320 shipped i found it in a ebay store, now hopfully i get it just need the seats

well i cut into the frame today and ruffed in the subframe its comming out better than i thought it was going to i have the top bolts through a small section of the existing subframe. and the bottom im going to cut some small sections of aluminum and go from the bottom mounting holes on the subframe to the rod for the top engine bolt like small dog bones. having trouble with the tank mount im probally going to have to make a new mount for the tank and seat. or hope some parts sell and get the r6 tank too. i keep messing up the paint on the frame which is bothering me in somany words i guess i should have just finished it the first time and this wouldent have happened hahaha. ill get some pics up soon

well i did call it a night till i saw your post mawler gave me a bit of motivation finished cutting off the subframe and turned the top shock mount and bolted it to the old shock mount tube i wish i left the old bracket on there but poor planning stiffed me again. the swing arm was in the way of my drill so i had to tip it almost to the point of falling over while i drilled the holes i spent the whole time thinking of what id do if it fell now i just have to wait till the paint dries and tighten all the bolts. now i can finish the subframe, ill probally mess with the loom so i can put everything where it gos. it has an integrated taillight but i dont know if mass. allows them. i guess the old tail is gonna be up for sale now if anyones interested.

Just hang in there, don't rush. More haste less speed.

I've just noticed my fork seals are leaking, we all have set backs.

The last time I dismantled forks was in 1981. A rabbit ran out (my excuse) I swerved and went through a fence (the cops bought it) those forks where shot.

The RD400 had a centre stand, Mother (god rest her sole) sat on the bike, while I removed, then replaced the forks.

Take your time.
