Getting ready for spring.......aarrghhh too late

Post by chefen2006 »

There was a few things i wanted to get fixed before springtime, and i did a few fotos on the way. It's not ready yet as I'm still waiting to get the fairing back from the paint shop. As it is now I'v changed the chain and sprocket kit, -1 tooth front +1 on the rear. Replaced the fork-seals,refiled with 15W oil. New "heavy duty" cluths springs. Steering head bearings renewed. Fuel-tap gaskets replaced. General servicing,cleaning,etc.etc.
I'v got all the parts for this at wemoto.com from U.K. Good and fast service.
Can't wait to get it back on the road, now that the weather finaly is getting better.
I'll take some fotos as i get things done.

Chefen,
coming along nicely yup my brother tells me the sun actually shone today in the UK and it did not rain in 24 hours.

I hope that keeps up when I get back, mind you going from one of my bush bikes (175cc 2strole) in the bush/jungle to the FZR in traffic is going to be a culture shock.

Placed a new order at wemoto today. I need new o-ring in the clutch slave cylender, front caliper rebuild-kit,and a set of new front brake-pads. I still haven't got the fairing back from the painter. I hope that he will be ready with it when I have done the last few jobs..Oh i think that I'll replace the front wheel bearings now that I'm at it. It never ends does it??

Still waiting for the painter to return the plastics banghead banghead :swear :swear :swear banghead :swear :swear banghead banghead banghead I'm done with the stuff I wanted to do,but I just can't leave things alone. So I made a "new" exhaust off an old yoshi can I had gathering dust in a corner. I have never done this before,so I would like to know if the DB-killer looks ok,or do you think that I am choking the engine?? It sounds OK :whistle a bit loud but not too crazy. What do you think??Image ImageImageImage
You can't see it on the foto but the end of the DB- killer is closed and then I made 10 4mm holes. It is wraped up in the stuff you see in the background in the first foto

C,
the only way to know if you are choking the engine is the header pipes will GET REAL hot.
Usually the Db killers I have seen are tubes set at an angle attached to the final outlet pipe (the chrome. s/steel bit) going back into the main muti-holed inner tube of the canister.

I finaly got the plastics back from the painter. Haleluja!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I'll put up some picks soon. With old bikes it is just like when you get one thing sorted, something else explode/melts/rusts/breaks. So now that it looks good, the exup-servo packs up. I never imagined that it would make the bike run so bad when this happend. It is utterly crap!! I gues Im paying a visit to the breaker soon. For now I'v just jamed open the valve with a smale wire. This had two interesting consequenses. #1 The fuling went down the toilet. The throtle response is VERY BAD.Huge flat-spots,comming back on power after a bend is suicidal (nothing, roll on just a litle bit more and BANG all the power at once). Also it seems to be choking at about 4000rpm,open her up at this point and it will splutter and cough. #2 The exhaust I made for it has turned from agresive rasp,to lunatic, ear exploding loud. Not a big suprise as the exup almost closes the exhaust completly at idle speed,so now that it's open all-time there is very litle resistance in the system. Good thing is that it is easy to fix,I'll see if I can get a new servo from the breaker asap. Ill get some pics up tomorrow.

the servos for the R and RU have different wiring/connectors so make sure you get the right one

Any specific reason why you went for the 532 chain and not the alternative cheaper/more readily available 530?
If its not broken it dont need fixing

OK I'll have a close look at the conectors before I buy the servo. Thankx Stig  I got the 532 chain becourse I hope it will last longer, and it was basicly the same price as the 530. They had both of them in stock where I'v got it from.
I won't be able to get the picks up before tomorrow. Sorry.
