thank for all the help on last post. changed the vr to yzf and found a short at the ignition and bike ran like never before but for got to turn on fuel and died but after that when i turn the key on nothing no light or anything again and havent seen and shorts is there a fuse im not checking (checking block with 4 fuse and single fuse) and i have read a few post with kinda same problem i just dont know alot bout what is said to check and wanted to reword it my way to make sure it was same thing thanks for the help p.s. dont have volt meter so cant do all the ohm stuff yet if theres any way to go around that and check some stuff

Depending on how you grounded the VR, you either have the VR connected to the system or not. Back when I had a 600 I did this mod and did not ground the VR correctly. My ride was short and the bike was totally dead. Since I wasn't far the wife towed me home with my truck. Went over what I did and found it wasn't grounded right. I ended running that directly to the negative on the battery. Others and yourself will not do it that way but that's my suggestion.

you kinda need a meter to find your problem easier recheck your wiring and make sure nothing came loose and the vr ground like sweekster said. sometimes the right hand run switch gets dirty and that will also cause a no start i flick mine back and forth a few times. i cant remember if your lights come on with it or not

Yes I suggest getting a meeter too oreillys and auto zone have them for 12 bucks. Radio has a better one for 25 that checks continuity. Your lights won't come on if your starter switch is faulty. I had a bad ground on my vr (little green wire connected to the alum backing plate) so I took reelrazors suggestion and ran a new wire to the engine.

Don't mind all the dirt and crud in this picture. Also I suggest going through ALL the connections and putting dielectric grease on them. And I mean all. Grounds and everything.

finaly ok went and got a volt meter and started at the battery it was good so moved to the ign.switch and i had power on hot wires in then when turned the key on lost all power everywhere so cut the brown and blue/white out of the ign and with the key on had power comeing out of switch so then i new it was grounding somewhere so i moved to the fuse blox and person that owned the bike before me had all different fuses but i read on here there should be 15 10 10 10 buut i had a 15 15 10 25 so when i saw the 25 i knew the problem isnt new not knowing what the fuses went to yet i pulled the 25 and tested the ign. switch again and everything came right on so i looked up on the wiring diagram and it is the fan fuse so tomorrow will find out whether its the fan switch fan motor or just a short but at least i know where to look thanks for all the help

Just to correct you on the fuses they are. Front to rear, Fan 10 amp, Ignition 10 Amp, Signal 10 amp, Headlight 20 amp.
