idle problems

Post by 6lostsoul9 »

I am having a problem with my bike idling up to about 4000 after it warms up and has been ridden for a little bit, then I shut it down and start it and sometimes the idle is back to normal others it jumps right up to 4000, I have changed relays, the ignition box, carbs are clean, I am out of ideas, can anyone help

Have you tried adjusting the idle down? You have a 1000 right? There's a hole on the left side of the frame when you can stick a phillips head screw driver in and adjust it. Turn it counter clockwise and you should hear and see it drop.

yes I have turned it down then it wont stay running, all the vacuum lines look to be hooked up except for 2 places where vacuum lines look like they go that are under the carbs on the crankcase, I dont see any lines that go to them though, this thing is driving me insane

got it running half way decent, the intake boots were loose and the carbs weren't sitting in them right
