So Confused please help me out with some knowledge
I have an fzr600 i bought used with alotta miles. i brought it over to the bike shop they looked over the bike and confirmed it was in good running shape. I ride it for about a week and it is SUPER FUN. but my tank cover was looking dull so i turned it over to my grandpa so he could paint it. I rode the bike a little bit without the cover on it and when i realized my bike wasnt running right i stopped (bogged down at 6,500). About a week later i get the cover back and go to ride my bike and it wont start. It turns over but wont start. me and my grandpa make sure the fuel system is delivering fuel properly. it still wont start. We jump start the bike and its running ok, a little bit of popping and back firing when i get over 8,000 (probly a mixture issue becuase i have pod air filters). When the bike is hot it starts but when its cold the only way to get it going is by jumping it. ANY thoughts on why? and any tips on getting to my spark plugs so i can check them???(btw i ordered stock airbox and drop in filter to eliminate the finikie pod filters.)

Did you change out all the fluids after you bought it, gas/oil/coolant/ brake fluid?casper1 wrote:not specifically, i had them do a general engine check to ensure it is in good condition before i even registered it
Old gas & crap in the fuel (like water ) do not play nice with jets and such like.
f it has been standing with gas that will foul the jets and will require you to clean them . Once clean balance them BEFORE adding your air box check the WIKI on carbs how to & the tool how to.
Have you re-charged the battery FZR's are VERY picky about voltages and the current that they can draw on to start.
Take a look under the lefthand seat fairing to see your voltage regulator see if it is an old tin cam type (original & Irubbish) or one of the finned casting types, check the connections for signs of overheating and corrosion. all of which will stop your bikes cranking speed reaching critical enough to fire the bike.
Also do yourself afavour put your location in your profile helps us by giving us an idea as to what model you might have (you did not say ) also some one may be close by to lend a hand if need be.

it was running like a top when i bought it. I changed oil, ive been through two tanks of gas and put carb cleaner in. charged battery all last night with a motorcycle charger. Im gunna look at the Voltage regulator.
Btw im from west palm florida, and its a 1993 FZR 600.
I was just in the garage before i came into check this and i was able to get it to start once but it died wen i went to blip the throttle.

Sounds like you need to sync your carbs as well, because the blipping of the throttle killing the bike may mean that you are running too rich. Use the carb sync tool that shreddex has made because you dont risk sucking fluids into your engine with this setup ( i say "his" because I dont care enough to find out who actually made it). Also, check your spark. If you have yellow spark with a properly functioning VR and new spark plugs, you may want to consider getting a new ignition set of coils. It takes 30 mines to do if you know what you are doing.

can you give me a link to shreddex tool.

USE THE TOOL IN THE VERY FIRST PICTURE IN THE LINK!!! That one is great for getting your carbs in near perfect condition. Later if you want, build one like the pros do with the 4 main hook-ups. Don't forget your mig welding tips.

What Pros construct their own 4 main hook up device? Please inform me how to make it.Brutal Tooth wrote: Later if you want, build one like the pros do with the 4 main hook-ups. Don't forget your mig welding tips.
I've been using this http://www.carbtune.com/ I even got ripped off for the tool pouch
