Ok ...This EXUP is pissing me off!!! Last year I removed it ...cause it drove me crazy. Over this past Winter I purchased all new bushings, dust seal, spring, and everything else besides the actual valve. Greased it up with lots of Moly 60 and it still RATTLES!!!
So ...This past Sunday I pulled the tank (because the servo isn't on the tail to make it easy like other year models) to get to the servo and adjust the cables. There was slack in them, so I gave them a few turns. Now the slack is out ...the valve all Molyed up and what do we have ...Sammy Davis Jr. Tappin' with the Rat Pack.
Would someone please tell me what I have missed in this equation. I really want to keep the EXUP running. Should I just take it to the Dealer and let them charge me out the arse and still have the tap dancing? Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: EXUP cable adjustment "Still Rattles"
You need to take the slack out the return cable so that the valve doesn't sit back at rest against the stops. Set the valve so its just half covering the hole..(at approx 47minutes in a clock face)
Re: EXUP cable adjustment "Still Rattles"
That makes sense to not have it hit the stop point. I didn't think of that. I just followed the manual and lined it up using a punch threw the hole. Will the cables adjust that much and return it to the almost closed position? Another thing ...the manual says the servo should reset/move when I turn the key while in the ON position. That's not happening. Any additional help would be great.
Thanks again Stig

Still didn't move any for me. I know it's working for sure when the bike is running and i'm twisting on the throttle. So I guess the Servo is ok. I could just cover up the rattle with the 10" Shorty D&D Can I made over the Winter. Love the noise!!

Re: EXUP cable adjustment "Still Rattles"
with the ignition off, turn the pully on the servo fully to one way. Then turn the ignition on and the servo should self set back to neutral postion. If it dont then it could either be electrical or stripped teeth in the unit itelf
Re: EXUP cable adjustment "Still Rattles"
Well ...I rolled out the adjuster as far as it would go and it still wasn't enough. So ...I tied the cable in a knot to shorten it so it wouldn't hit the stops. Sounds crazy but it worked. Thank for the help guy's.
Rest in piece Sammy.

Re: EXUP cable adjustment "Still Rattles"
sounds like someones got the cables mixed up top for bottom as ones longer than the other. oR may have fitted the longer cable where the short ones should go. Some of the lads on EXUP1000 have been making their own cables from bicycle inners with great sucess
Re: EXUP cable adjustment "Still Rattles"
I spoke to soon. EXUP is still rattling. I pulled it out again and the moly grease was just burnt up. I'm going to try adjusting it one more time. If it doesn't work this time, I'm removing it and will deal with it again in the off season (Jan & Feb).
Any and All suggestions are welcome. Thanks
