Hey guys and gals, Im new to the thread and riding. I have a little mechanical know how and i am looking for any answers out there to my problems. Just bought my first bike which is a fzr600 1993. Its in fair condition but i bought it knowing it would need some work. So here are my first couple of issues, the previous owner told me he had an issue with the spark plugs fouling out, and when riding the bike around for a short time it died randomly when I let off the gas. Then it would run just fine for a while after restarting. I am guessing that is more than likely a good carb cleaning needed?
next, the bike did back fire a couple of time while i was doing about 20mph in second gear.
next, the clutch is a bit rough when it engages and when looking at the lever assembly it looks like the cable going to it is kind of tweaked. can anyone take a picture of their assembly so I can see how it should look to see if the positioning could be my problem there, or are there any other ideas.
This is just a few of the issues. I am sure I will be back for plenty more.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Few problems please help!!!
Hi, a common cause of plug fouling is incorrect plugs or worn/faulty ones, first thing i did when i got my FZR (it was running shitty) was to replace the plugs, correct types are NGK CR9E or CR8E, or equivalents. Not saying it's the plugs could be 1 of many issues. The backfires could be unburnt fuel in the exhaust.
Recenly 2 other member's suspected the carbs, they both had ignition faults. Have a read through other threads lots of info in those.
As for the clutch, the only issue ive ever had was harsh/snappy when engaged, dragging when disengaged, turned out to be the wrong oil (to heavy thick) changed it and it was fine. There should be 1/8 inch free play at the lever.

Re: Few problems please help!!!
thanks for the help. It looks like I have the correct play in the clutch, maybe I'll investigate what you told me.
As far as ignition being the issue I have searched that here and only came up with a few unrelated results. Do you happen to have any good threads you know of?
Thanks again
