HALLE f*ck LUJAH IT'S FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is me now! -------------------->
It was connected when I checked that, I just thought it was weird that one showed 12 V and the other didn't and the other showed 22Kohms resistance and the one that showed 12 V didn't. Then everything was jumping around alot so I'll have to repeat the test of the coils when I go to put the new set of carbs on. For now I just got it back together for the first time in like 2 months and I'm just gonna ride till the carbs come. Since I cleaned all the valves and everything and my compression is up about 20% it's running better than it ever has before. I think it was a combination of two things. The biggest problem was I had pulled the emissions stuff off and plugged all the vacume holes in the carbs but they weren't sealed so I had several really bad vacume leaks. I went and got some actual vacume hose caps and put clamps on them and sealed those. The other problem is when I replaced the coils I put aftermarket 8mm ignition wires in; the stock ones are glued in and I didn't want to glue the aftermarket ones in cause the stock ones were a BITCH to get out. Two of the wires had slid out a bit so I don't think I was getting a good spark on those.
So... nasty vacume leak + poor spark = Really shitty running FZR.
Thanks for all the help dude. I may not have pulled the coils out and noticed that they weren't seated well had you not mentioned checking the resistance. I'll give you an update when I get my carbs and throw thos in and check the coils again.
I am out of ideas. Please help

Im just happy you got her running as she should, leave those coils alone (don't fix it if it's not broke)

I have learned a TON with everytrhing I've had to do. Now that it's over and I'm riding again I'm happy it happened; this is the most I've ever had to tear into a motor and I learned alot from that, and because I had it apart I had the chance to clean the valves and pistons and put a jet kit in. Now she's runnin better than ever.
Re: I am out of ideas. Please help
Back to the f*ck drawing board. So I just got my replacement set of carbs today. I replaced the one that had the hole in it and put them back on and now it won't start. It almost did for a second and I got it running once and revved it up a bit then it died. I used some started fluid and it ran long enough to burn the fluid then died. I really don't want to try to use the starter fluid anymore cause it was making my motor knock like a bitch for a few seconds when it started. It was knocking REALLY bad; once the fluid burned up a little it stopped and ran for another second then died. I'm so f*ck sick of this. I don't see how it could have changed SO much just from switching out one carb when it has the same jets and everything. WTF
Re: I am out of ideas. Please help
Gota be something simple, is it possible to slacken the fuel bowl drain screws while the carbs are in situ (can you get a screwdriver up there) to see if any fuel drains out? sounds like lack of fuel.
The knocking could have been pinking/pre-ignition slaps your piston around terribly, caused by the starter fluid (never used the stuff)

Ya I'll chwck the float bowels when I get off work. It seemed like it was flooding though cause when I gave is any gas it would kill it. It would idle aroung 900 or 1k for a sec till I gave it any throttle then it died. Doesnot make sense though cause I didn't change anything. I figured it was preignition, thats an aweful sound.mawler wrote:Gota be something simple, is it possible to slacken the fuel bowl drain screws while the carbs are in situ (can you get a screwdriver up there) to see if any fuel drains out? sounds like lack of fuel.

Oh, I forgot to tell you what was wrong with it. ME! I pulled the carbs back off and took every piece off and inspected it. Couldn't find anything wrong so i put them back on and thought... hey, maybe i should check to see if I'm getting fuel. NOPE!!! Me regular tank was empty. Switvhed it to reserve and it fired right up. Now it's runnung like a champ. I make my life so much more difficult sometimes. Thanks again for all the help.

You Sir need to expect the unexpected.
hope its back to for a very long time.
Happy rides
