cleaning and synchronize of carbs
I was thinking of trying this and was wondering how hard of a job and or comments, suggestions or hints on how I should do this. I have the Haynes manual and it doesn't seem like it would be that hard but would like someones opinion that has done it before. The local Yamaha dealer told me $300 to the job and I'm thinking for $300 I should give it a shot.

Cleaning is easy, takes about 3 hours your fist time. Also helps to understand all the innards when talking to others. I have a good from the archives if you need it.

Re: cleaning and synchronize of carbs
I did the two bottle device, but how do you use it? I mean in which order do you sync the carbs? Someone said that you sync 1with 2, than 3 with 4, and then you sync 1-2 with 3-4. That last step with 1-2 and 3-4 is what I don't understand.shredex wrote:two bottle method, look it up. its not hard...costs ya like $5 in materials and is about 10 min job if your fast.

Re: cleaning and synchronize of carbs
The 1-2 3-4 is exactly how it sounds. The ports where you did 1 and 2. Put one tube on the 2nd carb. And the port where you did 3 and 4. Put the other on carb 3. It's the same principal as math. If A=B AND C=D AND B=C THEN A,B,C, and D are equal. Except not really because you are getting the carbs to pull the same not so much being the same amount of vacuum. Yeah after writing that it doesn't make much sense. Sorry. But The ports where you did 1 and 2. Put one tube on the 2nd carb. And the port where you did 3 and 4. Put the other on carb 3. is the important part.

Well it was easy to find at the archives but I haven't been there in a while and now it's moved down in the thread body. But I went to fzr 600 and looked at the ultimate carb thread. Sorry I don't have more for you but I worked both jobs today and just now got home to do some homework.

here, I make this for you

You sync 1 & 2 together to make them one section, then you sync 3 & 4 to make them another section, then you sync the two sections together to create one big section.

Re: cleaning and synchronize of carbs
1/4 Id and 3/8 od is what I got. 2 bucks at lowes. You'll need some zip ties to get them to stay snug on whatever you use as the adapters to go into the carb boots. I suggest going to oreilly's and getting some 6mm grease fittings ($2.19) and drilling out the ball bearings on the inside of them.

Re: cleaning and synchronize of carbs
Use .045 mig welding tips in the intake manifolds (aka carb boots). Acts as the needed restrictor and fits the hose without zip ties and doesn't need drilling.
