Re: Doing a mini rebuild, UPDATED WITH PICS 3/26/10
Well I hit a snag. After trying to get the bike to start for a couple of days I decided to go back to the fairing and get them all lined up. I can't get the kickstand to go around the part of the fairing that runs behind the k.s. Granted I don't have the part that comes from the right side fairing to meet this fairing. But I don't think it matters a whole lot. If I push the piece back, like I think it would sit if I had both parts, the kickstand still scrapes. The only thing I can think of is that the little bracket under the k.s. switch is a little loose, the one that fairing bolts to. But I don't think if I got a new bolt it would help much. I don't think the pics will help out much but this is what I'm talking about.

Chris that K.S. is solid or tube .?////
Either way you can bend it a little below where the forked bit hits the round bit to get it clear you are talking a degree or so.
If it make the bike lean too far as to wants to fall over EITHER weld a bit on OR do as I did on "YELLOW PERIL" get a longer K.S. from another bike ( I used a Ducati 996 )
The other thing is to bend the hinge plate on the frame but that will require heat and I assume you have that freshly painted.

The "tube" that you see is actually some kind of hose. Like on a radiator. So I had thought about bending it but I didn't know if that would screw up the sensor or how far the bike leans. I figure the spring is necessary to get the ks to stay up. I will try both of the things that you said. Or go with a longer ks. Thanks George.yamaha_george wrote:Chris that K.S. is solid or tube .?////

Thanks. Not as sweet as yours. I debated on paint color for a long time. When I went to choose, and got the orange I told my girlfriend, "I hope JRK5892 doesn't think I'm copying his paint." She then reminded me that I had wanted to paint my mustang orange for a long time. But thanks for the comment.

Chris,
That KS of yours may be one of the hollow tube type , which with heat applied (the kitchen gas stove) is easy enough to bend DO NOT do it cold it will crack

Oh, I just got what you ment, the actual ks not the tube in the springI also figured out that where the ks meets the hinge plate on the frame, the ks pivots. I might try to put some washers or shims in there to move the ks away from the body. Thanks again George.

Added some more photos from a ride with a friend, he's on a 02 f4.
Trail of tears park here in S.E. MO. Again the pics are with my 3mp camera.
I added the thumbnail link above since the images below are cut off.
