Carb mixture screws

Looked through the wiki pages,and i cannot find any thing about the mixture screws.What is the best way to set these,or do you just set them 2 turns from in,as a mechanic friend tells me?

i have no idea on a bike but on a single cylinder you start at about 2 to 2.5 then turn one way till it runs ruff then the other till it runs ruff then set it in the middle of that which is about 2 to 2.5 like that circle i took you in. i think your supposed to do it with the exhaust temp or am i confussed

Chances are real good that they are all set differently from the manufacturer. My suggestion is to set them all out 3 turns, then measure the header heat, same spot on all headers, and make sure that they are close in heat range - while around 2000 RPM. You might end up with some out only 1.5 turns while others might be 4 turns.

My bike never started or ran better since I did that....

Don't know if you guys know, but there is a tool out there that read the heat temp of things with infrared sensors (uses a lazer light to show where it is point, though most confuse the light with the actual thing that reads the temp) from a distance of up to 10 feet or so INSTANTLY. I say this because you can use them on many house hold uses, i.e the grill; vents not producing , as well as reading your headers to see which one is the mess up. The lowest I've seen one for is around $30 bux. Pretty nice toy.

Yeah, it's an "Infrared Thermometer". I have a Raytek MT6 that I use - cheap, effective. It's a must have for racing. Best way to tell if a cylinder is not firing properly or if your idle mixtures are off.

We sell them at my work. I'll get a price and if anyone wants one just let me know.
I will say, though, that the farther away you are from what you are wanting the read the more inaccurate the reading will be. It shoots out a cone that the sensor reads from. Most of them want you to be within 6-8 inches. There is some kind of formula on the back to, as you get 1 inch farther away the reading is off like 14% or something. I know ours go up to 550+ cause I used it on my headers one time.
