So my first question is this, (mostly to Y_G) the push rod that needs to be oiled do I need to oil the side that goes into the tranny AND the side that touches the "ball bearing" in this picture? What keeps the oil from getting filthy on this end? I bought a new gasket for the clutch cover.
Next question, Reelrazor has told me on multiple occations to run the ground to the main engine buss. I finally traced it, and this is what he is talking about correct?
Next I looked into the carb boots to see how the valves were looking. And the exhaust side (on the right correct) looked pretty filthy. I only have 8k miles on the bike and have only ran 91+ octane for the last 4k miles. Would it be bad for me to spray anything onto this to clean it off with out taking the valve cover off and completely going through the engine. I just don't think I'll have time for this before riding season. It might be hard to tell from the picture.
I think this is about all the questions I have for right now. I might use this thread when I start getting more into the rebuild.
PS. Our bikes look goofy when you get the plastics off. Especially the front cowl.

3/22/10 Got some pics of the bike during the paint. It didn't come out 100% like I wanted, but I love it a lot more than the yellow.
Here is the uglier fairing after "2" coats of primer.
After "2" coats of paint. I snapped these before I left to get some more paint. It was being sucked in way too fast. I ended with "4" coats, half gallon of paint on everything.
This is the bad fairing after "2" coats of clear. I would have done more but I only had a quart of clear. You can tell the places I had to fiberglass over. And it was too bad for plastex. The other one looks 10000% better.
When I painted my 67 mustang I wanted to paint the back of my phone, I forgot then so i did this time.

And after. There are a couple of dry spots but all in all I'm pretty happy. It was the first time I've painted with this gravity gun.
After the paint the front cowl didn't look like I wanted. If you click the link to see the full image you can see all the f/g work I had to do on the bike's left side. Not pleased but also not worried about it.
Sorry about the next 2 pics being so dark. I didn't get home and get to putting them on until 12:30am. The lighting is with my shop light so it doesn't look that good. I have to work the next 2 nights that it isn't suppose to rain so I'll put up some better pics of her in the sun after that.

The only problem I have now is I can't get her to fire, tries but just doesn't turn over. I'm reading through some threads to see if I can trouble shoot it. I took the carbs apart and I'm 99% sure that I got all the jets back but I'm afraid I jacked one of the needles up a little bit. So we will go from there.
