Dead spot in mid rpm

Post by shredex »

when I quickly turn the throttle to mid-high rpm it cuts out (kinda like gargles) in mid rpm.
What is needed to fix this? is it rich? lean? what?
got the quad tail on but it didnt do this until just a little while ago

if you have not touched the carbs then standing has them dirty or your air filter has dust from the work on the tail?

Set the needle up a notch try it
then down two notches to see whether rich or lean.

I just started having the exact same problem after I readjusted my valves to spec. I noticed if I pull the choke for a min and gun it it goes away, then when I take the choke off it doesn't do it again till I stop. Makes me think maybe it's runnin a bit lean but I can't think why it would stay good after I take the choke off till I stop at a light or somethin. Try that out and maybe it'll give you some insight into whether your runnin rich or lean. If your rich I'd think when you choked it it would get worse but if your runnin lean it would get better like mine.

when my bike is warmed up, if I try chocking it the bike will almost grumble down and stall. But who knows. I did readjust my mixture screws...Ill turn them another quarter and see what that does.

How do the spark plugs look? All the same color? Is the bike popping (backfiring)out the exhaust when you let off the gas going down the highway?

Mine backfires when I let off the exhaust. Whats that mean?

Also it sounds like your runnin rich if your choke kills it.

Ok So...
1. Which bike are you talking about? Yours or the one your brother bought?
2. Why are you even riding a bike when you legally can't even go near them?
3. The bike this thread is about...Is it jetted with adjustable needles? If not then, you know why the flat spot is occurring.
