Removing the release cylinder on a '94

Post by ofloinn3 »

Hey everyone, I hope you all are having a great New Year.

I'm cleaning up my '94 and need to remove the hydrailic clutch release cylinder in order to remove the front sprocket cover. Chain grease is all over the place in that area. I've never messed with the clutch before and don't want to fudge anything up. It seems pretty straight forward reading my S/R manual.

Of course, it's easy to remove parts ...it's putting it back on that sometimes is the problem. Can someone give me some tips on doing this. How hard is it to refill and bleed the clutch?? Thanks

It's not too hard but it can be time consuming. It's just like bleeding any other system. You could do it the old fashioned way or you could reverse bleed it (with a syringe). I went the route of using a Mityvac when I bled the clutch on my 1000. Took all of 5 minutes to go from dry to fully bled.

Once again you have come through for me Duane. I tried doing some searches, but I guess the wrong search words were being used. I think I'm going to give it a try. Thanks again for your help. Bill

No Problem Bill. Also, you don't have drain the fluid to remove the slave cylinder. Just unbolt it and then the bolts that hold the sprocket cover on.
