Change your own bike tires

Post by R3TARD »

I dont know about you guys but around here they charge 50$ per rim to change tires or 45 if you buy the tires there and take the wheel off the bike.

I found these instructional videos on youtube.com that work really really well.

We have No-Mar Tire Changers in St. Louis where they'll change them for free for MCRA members. They are great folks and have an incredible product!

If you change tires quite a bit, I would look into something more substantial, otherwise I would find someone who races local who might do it cheaper than a stealership.

Before I knew about No-Mar, a local racer would change/balance ours for $15 a rim.

R3,
on Saltmine.org.uk Jim Stewart has a How-to use the Harbour Fright tyre machine which is considerably less effort especially on busting the bead off the rim with a tyre that has seen some mileage & years

This is awsome... Local shops they charge 50 bucks to swap tires, which amounts to the money you saved by buying online. I'm gonna replace the tires on the FZR this spring i'm gonna try this.
