Ebay chains any good?

Im not sure when my chain was changed, but I was told by the previous owner its a good idea to have it changed. Are the ebay ones good? what is a Non o ring chain and an o ring chain?

O-Rings are great! Make sure you check their feedback before you buy. DID RK Regina EK are all good chains.

I am suprised at you not telling the new guy that sprockets & chains are a set and should be bought & changed together.

A worn sprocket will load a new chain badly and cause it to wear quicker and therefore it is false economics to just buy any single item of the drive line ie front, back sprocket or chain..

You will find good retailers will sell sets cheaper together than if you buy singly.

The makes 95 recommends are sound and O ring chains are better than plain at keeping the crap out , X ring are better still but sap HP & are more expensive.

Ok, ill be gettign a chain and psrocket set HOWEVER.... my current chain... the small rattling noise it makes.. its not because the chain is loose or out of spec.. I was riding today and noticed that the chain hit the frame just a tiny bit. The left side of the chain looks a little worn out, the right side looks new. Whats going on here? Improperl installed sprockets? did someone forget tu put a washed back in there or placed a spare one? If I get a new chain... how can I prevent it from rubbing into the frame like this..? Its really minimal but you can defenetly tell the wear, also the noise is very minimal, can hardly hear it but its there. The sprockets look fairly new.

Geo, you know as well as I do 75% of the riders out there will usually only change out the chain when it goes and then notice later the sprockets go and then they change them. .

Yes, I do which is why I preach the "right / engineers" way of doing it. ie not wasting precious money and time in these financially tight times. I know the makers will not love me but I am here to pass on what I have learned just as you are.

Your advice was sound on not buying no-name stuff and recommending well known good quality brands, no one will argue about that least of all me.

I found why the chan rattled, it looks like nthis bike has been dropped before(since its missing the left fairing) The frame part where the foot peg connects, that was bent in and barely rubbing. I bent it out and good to go. It doesnt make noise. Still gonna replace chain tho.

Sounds to me like you're missing the nylon chain slipper. Check out Cycle Parts Warehouse to get another one. Ask for Michael and tell him Brandon sent you! Here are a couple links:

There are two different because the respective year ranges had different swingarms. Make sure you pick the right one.
