Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
Ok, stator checks out as does VR. Beginning to think its more furl related somehow. This is getting annoying.
Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
Mine used to be just one cylinder that would cut out every now and then and it was a bad plug wire with a badly corroded end.
I can't figure my problem out either. I'm completely lost.

Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
I'm going in circles here but I'm closer to the problem now. Its not ignition. I inspected the stator and pickup and all was well. I ran the bike and it was running poorer than ever. After it died, I remembered ether, which I had just used on another project. The bike fired with the ether, but wouldn't stay running, so I don't think its ignition.
I'm almost sure the fuel bowls are full, I know they at least keep gas in them. There is some wetness around the choke area on each carb. I think its carb related somehow, but in someway that each and every carb/cylinder is affected which confuses me.

Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
Well it seems we are both making progress. I tore mine down this weekend. Pulled the tank, inspected screens and they are both clean. Did find a 3/16" allen wrench in there though
! But on the the big picture. 2 of the 4 boots that clamp over the carbs were not seated properly. And the #1 cylinder's carb is the issue. Bowl is not filling as it should. Tested spark and its very good. With the bike running, and the bowl drain fully open, it barely dribbles, i mean barely dribbles gas out. Float stuck up?

Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
I figured it out and its embarrassing. It was the fuel pump. It was hardly moving any fuel. I never bothered to fully check it because it was new, I heard it running, and the carbs had fuel, but not enough. This whole damn time it was the fuel pump. Simple shit.
Sounds like you found your problem, should be a simple fix.

Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
You have a link to the fuel pump you bought? And how did you figure out that it wasnt pumping enough fuel? I know mine pumps, just dont know if its enough. It will run for about 10 sec and shut off without ever fully building pressure it seems like. I remember it stopping when pressure had built up before.

my bike has a stumble around 3500-400 rpm any thoughts

Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
Bat, I am having some similar issues and think my fuel pump may be on it's way out. A list of some of your symptoms and a link to the new pump you bought would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
I ended up with a used pump that was previously working, and it did nothing to help my situation. Carbs are next on the to do list.
Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
The stumble at that RPM is a jetting issue. Are you running PODS? This could be a contributing factor as tuning with PODS is very difficult.91fzr600r wrote:my bike has a stumble around 3500-400 rpm any thoughts

Try to sync the carbs before you open them up. I just went through the issue of starting strong but every time I started to slow down or come to a stop, the bike would cut out. This seems to happen on mine with extreme weather changes. I sync'ed mine and it runs like a champ again.j20brett wrote:I ended up with a used pump that was previously working, and it did nothing to help my situation. Carbs are next on the to do list.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Re: Losing power and dying after 10 minutes
I would just like to update everyone and give the final verdict: I feel like a moron! Just for kicks i was messing with the bike the other day, and the last time i had it out i pulled the tank and fuel valve off, inspected it and all seemed well, no trash in tank ans the screens looked like new. Well, i switched the valve over to reserve and lo and behold, it runs! Not only does it run, but like a scalded dog! So the valve is somehow blocked on the inside, but i don't really care. It runs just fine on reserve and i fill up before the tank gets anywhere near reserve anyways. Thanks for all the suggestions along the way!
