Hi,
Is it possible to fit the front body kit from an R1 on an FZR? I'm asking this because I've only got plastic protecting the headlights and dashboard, which means the radiator takes on a lot of dirt etc. The original FZR body kit would look ridiculous on my FZR because it's been customized a bit. Suggestions on other kits are welcome, too.
My bike looks like this:
91 FZR & R1 front body kit

A quick SEARCH of the Forums archives will show you this subject has been well covered over the last 18 months or so.
There is NO WIKI content on it how ever.
I also notice you are using a Danish website for your picture PLEASE put your location in your profile page it helps if we ever need to point you at a parts shop or another member for help.

One way to find out...moo wrote:Is it possible to fit the front body kit from an R1 on an FZR?
I can't recall seeing anyone doing it with a 1k before. I'm sure you'll have the same issues as the 600 class bikes. You'll have to end up making custom brackets, etc...
Persoanlly, I like the look of your bike. Get some form of a radiator protection if it really concerns you too much.

I hope so. The 600s are too small. Duane probably knows...yamaha_george wrote:Rage are the 1K rads bigger than the 600 ? if not I know aguy with RAD protectors LoL
I don't personally have anything against radiator protectors like the one you have, but I would probably space it out 1/4" - 3/8" away from the radiator for better airflow to the entire radiator.

YUP Roger that I supply mine with double lock nuts Just to give it the extra space not only for air circulation but in case of something impacting the guard.ragedigital wrote:I hope so. @yamaha_george: I did do a forums search, but I must have used the wrong keyword given that I got results on original body parts etc., but my bad. As I recall I did enter my location when/after signing up, but if the information isn't there, I probably didn't.
@ragedigital: I, too, like the look, but the weather in Denmark generally sucks in the summer. This year it almost rained the whole summer, so the roads got wet, muddy and dirty. Suppose I don't do anything about it and just clean it once in a while, will it have an impact on the cooling system whatsoever?
Also, I've seen a few R1-bikes with white body and white rims. Would it be too much white if I got the rims painted?

Re: 91 FZR & R1 front body kit
It's been done before. I suggest PM'ing Fizzinatorr as his old 90 FZR1000 had a full R1 front (upper and left and right) body kit.

Just follow the link and look at the pictures. This guy is closer to you than he is to us (location wise). I had to save the link to my favorite web list because I enjoy looking at it so much.

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
