Is this something that would benefit us when swapping fzr forks over to modern USD forks? It seems the main advantage is in being able to maintain a slightly higher ride height than would be allowable with the USD forks.

Link worked fine for me.
I question the strength of doing this. All you are adding is a hollow piece of metal to the top of the fork that the top triple will clamp to. Basically, I have a fear that it will rip out of the top of the fork thus destroying the fork and causing a wreck. Or over tightening the triple clamp and deforming the extension. But, I could be wrong on that. Either way, having a wreck with those on the forks won't be pretty. Most of the USD forks are only inches shorter than the stock FZR forks. A good suspension shop should be able to place a spacer in the fork to extend the length. While I don't see them being able to match the FZR length, it should get a lot closer.

At 300USD not exactly cheap items
Cad I would say that if these were added the clip ons would go across the seam and therefor reinforce the area.
The seam being between the tripletree & the top yoke means the top yoke & clip ons would have to take one hell of a bang to break it out. I think if I did this I would extend the inner thread in the fork tube by about and inch so that the cap could be deeper into the leg itself
I have been pondering doing this same extension idea but for the original forks so the clip ons could be raised above the top yoke to ease the strain on my aging shoulders and arms.

Looks like a great idea, but they are pricey. I'm certain it takes a while to machine them. Might be better off using YZF600 or R6 forks that aren't USD and upgrading the internals.
I would suggest buying another triple top and mounting some MX bars there, George. You can always revert the bike back fairly quickly with the stock triple top. The hassle with moving to MX is I would loose my windshield & fairing unless I was very lucky.

That LSL kit was just an example. Yeah, it would break the bank - very pricey. But if you made your own bars and risers, I'm sure you could come up with something that would work around the upper fairing and bracket.
