which is just about what me and the bike come in at together. It's noticably slow when I have 30 lbs of groceries in my backpack. I need a 1k if I ever put a girlfriend on the back

the rack and pinion went out in my beater civic back in may or june and it needed so much I junked it. Just been me and the FZR daily since then. So groceries and whatever go in the backpack. It's an art keeping a 15 year old motorcycle that's lived a hard life going since I can't have any downtime

How about 5 * 56lbs sacks of Cement and 180lbs of rider on a DT 175 Yamaha trail bike

I'm in tampa, we don't see minus 7 and the coldest we have can be fixed with a liner, a head sock, and some long johns.

The relentless rainfall and the strong winds are the worst here, I've been pushed off the interstate one time and once saw a CTS knocked straigt out of it's lane during a storm with me 40ft behind it. With that said I hated that civic, it was slow and handled like junk, everytime I hit a corner I'd wish I was in the bike.

If i had cash in my hand for a car/truck right now I'm not entirely sure I wouldn't use it for another bike. There's a mildly ruff 02 TLR north of me for 3k obo that I've been watching but not making any purchases now.

I do most of my grocery getting on my bicycle, but if you're looking for a backpack, nothing beats Ortlieb messenger bags: http://www.ortliebusa.com/CartGenie/prod-22.htm
They are completely waterproof and can be as big or as flat as you want.
I've worn it on my 400 mile rides to Ohio and back a few times and never had an issue with lift, which was a concern when flying down the road.
And they are durable as all hell: basically canvas coated with a thick latex-like rubber.

All Original, except for a custom saddlebag set up. A machine shop buddy of mine seamlessly fitted two GS bags on the rear end for last summers ride.
