filler cap options?

Post by feef »

my google-fu is weak today.

Are there any aftermarket fuel caps that fir the FZR400?

I'm looking for a key-less race cap as the filler cap is now the only reason I have any keys for the two racebikes.

Kind of curious about this myself.

Remegio, I don't recall seeing any of these on EBay recently. Could you post up a look if you happen upon one again in the near future? I'll keep a look out as well.

Thanks!

Seems one of the common solutions is to remove the lock barrel and fit a machined "plug" that can be twisted to replace the barrel and key

I run a Protek keyless gas cap on my bike. Same one should fit the 400. Vortek makes them too. And there are always a good number listed on ebay... Click here. A lot of the ones listed for YZF's and R6/R1 will fit the FZR as well.

Cool. I wasn't sure of the cross-compatibility. Yet another item to add to the wish list... LOL!

Thanks!

Sweek,
this discussion has been going on else where and the concensus is that FZR 400 & FZR 600 fillers differ in length (ie between cover & tank ? )

Can you deny / confirm this?

The gas cap itself is the same although they may have different part numbers. The older 1wg (for example) 400s that used tank cover is from what i remember to be shorter than the 600. It's profile is lower so I would image a 400 tank being smaller than the 600 as well.

You can see the differences here

Subtle but it's there. From that alone I would say they ARE different in length due to them using different tanks.
