Guys & Gals ,
I have noticed a trend of late for new members NOT
A} Introducing themselves to the rest of the list
B) Including a rough Location of their where abouts in their details

We have a great site here, lives in peace and harmony BUT please use the SEARCH Facility & our extensive knowledge base archived in the WIKI, we as a group have put this technical library together so that the OFTEN repeated question can be looked up and an answer found.

If you do not understand the answer by all means ask the GearHeads here they will clarify BUT YOU have to be seen to be able to help yourself some too.

While laboriously answering the same question for possibly the 30th time this year we could be solving a problem that has not occered before and is stopping some poor soul from riding.

EVERYONE here should own an FZR manual if not then KNOW there is a COPY in the WIKI.

Sorry to preach but I seem to be answering a lot of repeat questions of late & not seeing too many of you using the first class facilities that FZROnline provides FIRST.

IF IT IS NOT IN THE WIKI ask me why not & I will gladly add the answer to that area of the knowledge base.

+1 on that Geo, especially the location. Please remember that the FZR was sold for many years with many different engine sizes. The bad part is that Yamaha (in it's infinite wisdom) decided to sell two different bikes but selling them both under the same name for a couple of years. So depending on where you are in the world, the answer you may need can be different. Not to mention part suppliers.

Nah, I just figure we have all put a LOT of work in on this site to have asensible KNOWLEDGE BASE and it is being wasted by people not willing to look at what we have done.

OH yes and I have just added a spreadsheet for front sprocket off-sets & number of teeth with part numbers & a point of sales email & web site in the WIKI HOW-TO's

No inconvenience there so no need to apologize. When this site was created, we wanted it to feel more like actual community than just a big FAQ. There are REAL and VERY knowledgeable people here who are actually willing to help out. Introducing yourself just adds to that community feel and gives the site a pulse. As George stated, adding your location in can, in some cases, get you the answer/help that you need face to face because someone who knows the answer or a better way to achieve the desired result is probably down the street.

With that said....

Yeah, I appologize too, and after looking back at my posts I could have sworn that I did a welcome for myself, I thought I even copy and pasted mine from the archives. Apparently I didn't do that so I will rememdy that soon.

Big +1 on posting location. Especially on this board since it seems to have a farther global reach than the Archives. Adding to what Cad600 said about the 600s, this is probably an even bigger issue with the 400. Between the 1WG, 2TK, 3EN (1 or 2), and 3TJ, that's essentially 3 or 4 different bikes that were produced in any given model year - yet they're all FZR400s!

BTW, how exactly do y'all get the damn airbox back on???
