wind shield types

Post by yamaha_george »

Hi,
at 6-2" the original shield flows the air straight at my helmet, if I get further inside the screen it gives me neck ache as well :-(

I have yet to find a tourer version of the FZR 6 screen ie the type where the top edge is flipped up slightly to flow the air higher and away from your head.

Any one know a source or have a picture of one. (the latter to send to a non biker pal in HK as he may be able to get them made if all else fails )

Someone makes a double bouble wind screen. I want to say it's zero gravitey but I'm not sure. It will help push the air up a little higher, but may not be as high as you are looking for.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....

M,
Just to clarify the thread I have conflicting answers re zero-gravity double bubble wind shields that:-

a} they are the same height as standard

b} they are taller than standard.

The hassle is that the screen is quite cheap but almost doubles in price with shipping to the UK &!!! no insurance against breakage outside the US of A.

So not exactly a scheme where I want to be guessing that this is going to work as required.

zero gravity makes a stock type and a double bubble type wind shield. if you get one make sure its double bubble.

if needed i can post a pic of the double bubble, and you can compare it to your stock one, you should be able to tell just by looking at it

M,
Thank you that makes it so much clearer and totally wipes out the equal height talk.
I too will now be able to collect more bugs for the windshield decoration & bragging rights LoL

Geo, very gratefull for the info.

There is also a touring version like you talked about in your first post with a distinct lip. This is one that I was sent by mistake when I wanted one without the lip. It looks alot darker in the photos than it actually is as can be seen when you look through the inside.

wow that is a monster lip far bigger than what i have seen in the past. I got a pal to get a double bubble organised that is slightly taller than norm so we see.
14 days to organise :-)

As to that overhead monstrosity yeh we have them on commuter bikes and you can now buy soft plastic side windows for them :yikes:
