Got my leathers today!
Yo fellas! I'm pretty stoked because I finally got my leathers today! Here a a few pics! They are awesome! It took six weeks to get them but it was well worth the wait. Now I just need to get the damn bike built! LOL! In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to work my technique with the kid's Huffy!

Niiiice!
I saw the Pilot USA ad in the latest Sport Rider and went to their website.
Very nice stuff it looks like, and the "introductory prices" are quite good-especially with all the 'custom' ad-ons they include.

Re: Got my leathers today!
Yeah, I figured since they're altered to fit my, ummm, smallish frame I'd never be able to sell them anyways. So I may as well really make them mine. The "dance" pose is a combination of the way these suits are cut and me trying to put myself more or less into a riding position. My wife snapped the pic before I was able to get all the way into my full tuck! LOL!_Will_ wrote:nice , got your name and all. Look like you're about to start a dance in #3

Re: Got my leathers today!
That's where I first heard of them also. I picked the issue up on Saturday before the races in Monterey and thought I'd check them out. On Sunday we actually walked by the booth but didn't go in. I REALLY should have as it would have save me a trip to Murrietta to get fitted. It's only about 1 1/2 hours from home though so it wasn't too bad. These suits ARE really ice though. The cool thing is that they're not off-the-rack. Basically, what happens is this:reelrazor wrote:Niiiice!

1 Call them up and tell them your height & weight (Josh will probably pick up).
2 They send you an already made suit based on the info you give them (shipping paid BOTH ways).
3 You try it on and give them a call to talk about what needs to be changed.
4 You tell them what pattern / colors you want (along with ANY patches, names, etc. - which is ALL at no extra cost).
*** If you want a patch that they don't have you would need to either provide it yourself or they would need to order one (in which case they would charge you for it - fair enough I say).
5 They send you a "Photoshopped" mock-up of what you decide.
6 Once you sign off on everything, they make it and send it you (shipping again paid by Pilot).
They say to allow 8 weeks but I got mine in 6. The reason it takes so long is that EVERY suit is made from scratch. So that's what they mean by custom. And yes, $800 is a damn good price for what they offer. Beats the HELL out of paying over a grand for off-the-rack (which would normally be the case).
As for the dark suit, yeah, Josh and I talked about this. I REALLY didn't want to go with white (or anything else really light in color). The point he kind of made was that there really wasn't THAT much of an appreciable difference in how hot they get. I kind of agree. At some point, it just gets so hot that it really doesn't matter. Maybe I can just mount an umbrella to the bike. Seriously, a pop-up is DEFINITELY going to be in the budget! Hell, a motor home might just make it's way into the budget with the kind of heat that Willow gets!

nice suit (matches the bar tassles) and a good price for what is basically a tailored job.
Now you need a set of Bamboo base layers to stop what you guys call "monkey Butt" . 90USD less 20% if you use the probikers promotion code. Your Wife will not regret the expense so unless you like sleeping with the bike and having to leave the leathers in the garage ............................
a question when do you pay for the suit ? up front ?
Re: Got my leathers today!
I dont think those handlebar tassles are race-approved

Re: Got my leathers today!
I'm definitely looking into the base layer now. The only issue for me is the sizing. Being a smaller guy makes it a little tricky sometimes so I'd really need to make sure I get it right when I buy. I'll have a look at you GH thread again and do a little research.yamaha_george wrote:B,fzrbrandon wrote: I saw the Pilot USA ad in the latest Sport Rider and went to their website.

For payment, I did indeed pay up front. My guess is that would require it regardless since the suits are basically made per customer specs. Just to clarify though, my suit is not really custom sizing per se. It's a 40 with 3.5cm taken off the sleeves and 7cm off the legs. Fortunately the knee and elbow pockets are still in a good place so it fits great. The customization is really more about the patterns, colors, patches, etc.

Sounds good! We've gone for the last 4 months and plan on going through the end of the season. You should head out next month so we can hook up. We always hang out at the balcony (T4) so look for us if you go.sweekster wrote:Nice. It'll make it easy to look for you the next time I'm up at Willow. Re: Got my leathers today!
LOL! Yeah, no kidding! Those speakers pretty much suck! Funny thing is, we never even listen in surround. When I first got the system I decided to try it out by listening to the "chase" scene in Monsters, Inc. with my daughter. Well, she was only about a year old or so and while we were watching there was a pretty decent pan thing that swung to the rear speakers. When it happened she looked at me with this terrified look on her face and and just shook her head like, "Aaah, hell no!" So... we haven't used it since! She's seven now so maybe a new system could be in the works.tampaFZR600 wrote:i think you should have spent the money on new surround sound lolol
