Need parts
I just got my 94 FZR home and it needs a bit of work. As far as I know I am going to need new carbs, battery, and plugs. Where are the best places to get good prices and quality parts for it?

Re: Need parts
Are you looking for a jet kit in the carbs? If so I have a set. The internet for a battery. I got mine off ebay for 46 shipped I think it was, maybe a little more, but it's sealed. It's from Scorpion. No issues with it all season and quick shipping. Not sure on spark plugs. I've always ordered them from dennis kirk or the like. I have some though if you don't mind used ones. They are cleaned up and good to go. I have some CR8E and CR9E.

Do YOU Scopper?

unless the carbs are physically damaged in a crash or some such, they can be cleaned up by spraying or dipping in Carb cleaner.
2 -4ltrs of flat coca cola in a bucket works wonders, just be sure to THOROUGHLY rinse them thro afterwards with clean (preferably distilled ) water
AND
NO longer than an overnight soak in the coke or you may not find your carbs as coke is pretty aggressive
Re: Need parts
the carbs are not fixable i have to get new ones. my boyfriend explained to me exactily why and i know i cant rebuild or just tweak them. i have to replace them. im going crazy without my bike running and i need to get these problems taken care of ASAP!!!

Re: Need parts
Like George said, unless the carbs are physically damaged somehow, you will not need to replace them. When you say "new" carbs, just be aware that each individual carburetor body is about $500 new (you DID say "new"). Post up what is actually wrong with the carbs and we'll be able to help you sort them out. If need be, have your boyfriend post up. Taking the carbs apart and cleaning them thoroughly really does wonders. Even if you do have a damaged part you can get a donor set of carbs really cheap on the forum here and simply replace what you need. I had a busted throttle bell crank on #3 and was able to get a donor #3 carb from a fellow board member for $10. Beats the hell out of $500!!! Most importantly, TAKE YOUR TIME with this stuff. If not, you'll just run into more problems.Tatd4Life wrote:the carbs are not fixable i have to get new ones. my boyfriend explained to me exactily why and i know i cant rebuild or just tweak them. i have to replace them. im going crazy without my bike running and i need to get these problems taken care of ASAP!!!

Re: Need parts
they are damaged...and no im not talking "new" because that would be way out of my budget, i am currently watching 2 different auctions on ebay for the carbs. one of them is 65.99 and the other set is just starting at 35.99 so im going to try and see what i can do with that. my boyfriend did all the work to the bike so far and i know i can trust him to take care of it properly. this isn't my first bike but i am still learning about bikes and he told me he will help me get it running properly and than the rest is up to me what i do. i do have a decent mechanical backround and have people that i can ask my "stupid questions" so im not going into anything blindly and i am not going into anything in a hurry. i want everything done right. i am very thankful for you guys (or girls if like me!) that are here and willing to help with the issues i have with my bike. this is a project i took on and i want to do it right, without people that are willing to help me i would get nowhere and im sure i will have a million more questions before the bike is the way i want it. so once again i appreciate your time and help. thanks guys!

Re: Need parts
Tatd, its great to see people take on new challenges and expand their knowledge and skills in life. Good for you! But can you please at least kill the suspense for those of us who still don't understand why the carbs can't be serviced? I believe you and it is possible. I know I'm curious and I imagine others are as weel as to why your carbs were not serviceable. Did someone overbored the bodies, they wre ran over by a Mack truck, they were inadverantly ran though a tree chipper ... Get your scoot back together and get your knees in the breeze.
Re: Need parts
Haha no mack truck or tree chippers, tomorrow after we get done putting on the new carbs I will come on here and explain why we could not rebuild/repair the carbs because by than I will fully understand why. I am going to have Mike explain more in depth to me why once we actually have the old set in front of us and he can show me. I am a visual learner and it just sounded like he was speaking japanese to me before so once I can see what is being explained it will make much more sense to me. I just got my set in the mail today and we are going to put them on tomorrow. I am super excited to learn more about my bike and can't wait until it's actually running! I'll keep you updated!

This is her boyfriend, the previous owner of the bike. I was at the shop one day about 6 months ago rebuilding the carbs and the service manager thought it would be a good idea to come up behind me and scare me while i was tightening the bolt that holds the emulsion tube (main nozzle, or whatever you want to call it) into the jet housing (better term?), needless to say I jumped and snapped my wrist which broke the bolt off in the emulsion tube. I tried using an easy-out to remove the broken bolt but it ended up cracking the tube and the jet housing. As a last resort I put some jb weld around the emulsion tube and jet housing to hold them in place, when it was all said and done the bike was running so rich you could see gas spraying out of the exhaust. I parked the bike and didn't touch it again until I gave it to her.

Re: Need parts
Hmmm..... So did you proceed to kick said service manager's ass? What a bastard. I hope he at least shilled for the new set of carbs. Anyway, hope you guys get her running well again!Tatd4Life wrote:This is her boyfriend, the previous owner of the bike. Re: Need parts
Dumb arse. No doubt that joker should be on the hook for a suitable replacement. Hope you guys get it sorted with the replacement carbs.
And dang Brandon you have been throwin' down on the Fizz's. I never pay much attention to people's signature boxes but the 600 looks nice man!

Re: Need parts
The fizzer is now officially running. It's running pretty rough but I'm glad it's running. We changed out the carbs and replaced the plugs. I still need to tune the carbs, replace the battery and change the oil. I didn't want to get off it once it was running. I am in total fizzer bliss!!!
