Ok, I have a 3en1. Ride my bike to work each day.
On a cold start with the choke pulled back all the way, should she be reving as high as 4k when started ?
She always starts and only take 1.5 turns of the crank. For a few seconds she will rev around 1.5k then jump up to 4k at which time
I drop the choke to 1/2 way and she dies down to below 1k so i have to open the choke again and she again jumps to 4k. After about 2 mins of this
I can close the choke and she is a happy girl idling at 1.5k
How should my choke work ?

Re: How should my choke work ?
You've got the basic process right..just need some refinement. Try about 3/4 choke to cold start, then drop the choke just a bit..just enough to drop the fast idle to about 2k

Re: How should my choke work ?
Its just I get a lag time between moving the choke and the revs changing. Would expect it to react faster. Now I think about it I also get a lag when going from 1/2 throtle to wide open, takes a few second to pick up. maybe running to rich.reelrazor wrote:You've got the basic process right..just need some refinement. You're throwing too much fuel at it by going wide open with the choke..it's gonna take a few seconds to use it up....plus, as the cylinders heat up..it becomes waaay more efficient at making the fuel burn-this keeps changing for teh first few minutes. Find a place where you can let it high idle. Around 2k and put your jacket/helmet on while it is getting frisky.
