What are you paying for rego

Post by buzzawak »

Hi, Just got my road registration notice in the mail and was wondering how much you guys in the UK and US are paying in comparison.?

Here in Australia its called CTP "Compulsory Third Party Personal Injury Insurance". All cars and bikes have to have it here.
For the fizzer it will cost me $461AU, = $378US = $230GBP :yuck:

Well, my registration in Michigan is, I think $26 per year.

My insurance (required-but NOT billed/contracted through the state) is $228 per year.

I pay about 10 a month for the basic liability and then 38 a year for the plate/registration

but I have discounts for home owners now, and having the cars with the same company, something like a 40% discount

You guys are lucky... here in Vancouver, BC, I pay about $600 CAD for just liability, and that's with 43% safe driver's discount (just had my 20th year claim free)!! We have a single provincial corp that administers insurance (no competition) and it's just ridiculous. With this system basically the good drivers (me) pay for all the bad drivers on the road! :swear

My reg is about $35 and liability insurance runs about $140/yr with geico. Ive found it for as low as $80 with some unheard of company, but Ive had great experience with Geico.

I'm not sure what the actual reg. is here. I do know title/plates/tax cost me $160 to get on the road. I also need to grab a $40 City of Chicago reg.(a small metal disc that must be attached to the bike.) Geico is $101 per year for liability.
